7.6 Other Tours

Tours are available to delegates upon request. Information regarding
commercial tours of Port Moresby will be available at meeting venues and
accredited hotels. To facilitate requests, delegates should notify their DLO
or HELO. Additional tourism information is also available through
the APEC Information Desks located at the meeting venues and accredited
hotels.
7.7 Lae Regional Visit

As part of the APEC 2018 program of events, a number of regional visits
are being offered to delegates to gain a better appreciation of economic
developments taking place around Papua New Guinea.
Each of these one-day visits includes a technical component that provides
greater insight into local capacity and infrastructural change, engagement
with provincial and local level leaders, interaction with SMEs and cultural
demonstrations.
Regional visits leave Port Moresby on chartered aircraft and return before
6pm on the same day. The Regional Visit for the conclusion of SOM2 and
MRT will be Lae, the capital of Morobe Province, from 9am to 5pm, on
Sunday, 27 May.

The second-largest city in Papua New Guinea, Lae is located near the
delta of the Markham River, and marks the start of the Highlands Highway,
which is the main transport artery of Papua New Guinea.
Lae has the largest cargo port in Papua New Guinea, and is the industrial
hub of Papua New Guinea. The city has seen significant economic
transformation in recent years, and while it still faces challenges, this is an
example of ongoing economic growth.

The Regional Visit to Lae will include a program with technical visits to the
Mainland Holdings Crocodile Farm, the City Tour and SME Cultural Expo.
Seats on the charter flight are limited. Minister + 1 per economy are
invited to travel. RSVP required no later than 13th May.
