       CATEGORY: GREAT COLLABORATION

       NOMINATOR: Barbara Fox

       PROFILE:
Describe the situation or event related to the individual's or team's performance.
This was a Great Collaboration effort between the plant and plaza personnel, this
team made the right connections between co-worker resources in a networked
organization by using Analytical Thinking, Business Mindness, Communication,
Listen, and Total Solution Thinking competencies. The team was highly motivated
to get to the root cause of why the excess soap conditions occurred, causing so
many related issues on the production floor. It took many hours of asking tough
questions for the right answers, using analytical thinking, going back to collaborate
for the right outcomes more than once. The scrap factor variances in SAP were
inflated and incorporated into the BOM weights over the years ranged from 1% to
22%, across 4,224 BOM?s. Once the BOM weights were updated to label claim the
reality of the range was .25% to 9%, with over 4,009 BOM?s at 3% and lower. To
find a business process that meets the needs of more that one business area; that
originally appeared to be non-related business teams and functions ended up being
large impact on Supply Chain processes and overall operations, was very
rewarding. Consistency, standardization and then communication are imperative
       when processes are used cross-functional.

Describe in detail the individual's or team's notable behaviors.
When a project has, this level of complexity it is important to take the time, effort,
and attention to detail upfront, to ensure we make a comprehensive discovery and
go-forward with a long-term fix to the situation. A new Business Process for
establishing BOM Weights and Scrap Factors for formula SKUs was developed for
implementation, with approval for ownership from Change Management, Quality
Assurance, SC Scheduling, SC Finance and S&OP. When an incorrect scrap factor
is noted at the SKU level SC Finance is notified for review and update as needed,
this was approved in August 2017. There were 4,224 BOM?s updated in SAP; not
only did this project impact the production floor, it now provides the Product
Managers a consistent way to establish BOM weights on new products in a
methodical document with calculations for ease and repeatability.

What were the results of the individual’s or team’s behaviors?
The team interviewed, researched and investigated with content experts from many
areas of the company, on how BOM weights were established, calculated and
entered into SAP. Upon obtaining the information it was found that Product Owners
were using a spreadsheet that was more than ten-year-old to determine BOM
weights. These calculations had inflated scrap built in and when improvements
