PROFILE:
Describe the situation or event related to the individual's or team's performance.
This team exemplifies Great Collaboration.
Describe in detail the individual's or team's notable behaviors.
The team was successful because they assessed the needs of the organization
objectively. By putting aside role specific concerns and traditions they were able to
honestly examine the constraining factors, miscommunications and common
mistakes in process scale up of formulations from the lab scale to the production
line. Using candid discussions about past issues and current practices they were
able to create a process guide that focuses a team on identification, understanding
and mitigating risk instead of checking boxes and completing routine assessments
of questionable value.
What were the results of the individual’s or team’s behaviors?
The team created a tool that quickly coordinates team member discussion and
quantitation of perceived scale-up risks and assumptions about new formulas. The
process they developed increases the quality of information, reduces the amount of
time and effort required for successful scale up and decreases the number and
severity of problems encountered in pilot plant and on the production line.
