Describe the situation or event related to the individual's or team's performance.

There are countless instances this year that Joe exhibited whole systems thinking.
PURELL Solution is a prime example. Though there were only two new formulas, every existing formula had to
be tested in the new packaging. Meanwhile, all other scale-up initiatives kept going and he kept them on time
as well.
Joe further supported PURELL Solution through the preparation of demonstration kits for sellers. He
coordinated Product Management, Line Assembly, and R&D to fill, label, and assemble all of the kits. There
was a short timeline and the quantity increased multiple times but Joe delivered!
Joe really went above and beyond in preparing for LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System). He did
a thorough review of the Pilot Plant, evaluated overlap with other areas of R&D and with Manufacturing, and
proactively connected with consultants to ensure we had an efficient Pilot Plant review.
Healthy Places is an area that Joe has been diligent about preparing for. Keeping current procedures in mind,
he collaborated with Quality Assurance to navigate challenges and identify paths to releasing PURELL Surface
Spray product made externally. This is something we have not done in quite some time, if ever!
From the get-go of considering scaling up SAW (Surface Alcohol Wipes) in house, Joe completed a review of
the new raw materials, evaluation of current SOPs, and collaboration with Safety to determine how to protect
technicians and equipment from the harsh materials. Thus far, Joe has successfully worked through the
challenges that have arisen with the first scale-up of a surface product!

Describe in detail the individual's or team's notable behaviors.
The interesting quality that makes Joe great at his job is as he receives requests from Market Research,
Packaging, Product Management, and Product Development, it is he who assumes responsibility even when
he is waiting on items from the requester. There are not many who would excel in his role because they lack
the communication skills, organization agility, and ability to predict how actions will impact other parts of the
business. Somehow he keeps all projects, stages, and representatives organized with timing and requirements.

What were the results of the individual’s or team’s behaviors?

Joe contributes to every single product launch and his whole systems systems thinking ensures successful
identification of potential problems, proactively involving all of the appropriate people, and making connections
from project to project, thus reducing resources and rework.
