People say you’re stuck in the past. For some reason, you resist learning new personal and managerial
behaviors. You’re the last to get on board a new initiative. You’re from Missouri (the “Show Me” state)—
we have to prove it to you before you’ll move. Surveys done with a major outplacement firm show that
those most likely to be let go during a downsizing have good technical and individual skills but poor
learning to do anything new or different skills. You can’t survive today without keeping you and your skills
fresh. There’s not much room anymore for someone stuck in the past.
