Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, ...... So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself.

God commanded husbands to love their wives as Christ loved the church. He also said in His word that husbands ought to love their wives like their own bodies. There are two comparative benchmarks outlined therefore, against which to measure the love that husbands show their wives. They compare their love toward their wives with the love that Christ showed to the church. They can also compare their love for their wives with the way they love their bodies. These two benchmarks appear different but they are really equivalent. Christ loved the church in the same way the men love their bodies. That is what the scripture is saying here.
