The Man In Love
them more than Jesus, and indeed, to love them more than our bodies.
Love: The Pursuit of Self-Interest
“For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.” This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the church. Nevertheless let each one of you in particular so love his own wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband.
Ephesians 5:31-33
The husbands love walk actually a pursuit of self-interest approved by Jesus Christ and God the Father. This is because the scripture says that a husband that loves his wife actually loves himself. Since according to the ‘mystery,’ the two have become one and inseparable, the husband cannot love his body without loving the wife who has now become a part of it while he also cannot love himself alone without his wife benefiting from the same love. It is clear therefore, that loving our wives amounts to us being given the heavenly mandate to pursuit our self-interest.
That is why we insist that a husband who truly shows his wife love is simply showing love to himself. By loving his wife, he
