The Man In Love
takes knowing what is in it for us. That is what God did with the love command. That is how much God loves us by giving us that command also. That is why the bible also says that His commandments are not grievous (1 John 5:3). He has our interest fully covered in the demand that He has made from us.
Unfortunately, men don’t understand that the job has been made easy for them. For example, when we know that love is for our benefit, we will do all that is required, seek and use all God’s provisions in order to realize the benefit. They don’t know that it is important for the grain of wheat to die first for it to multiply itself. Being selfish and self-centered is sin but pursuit of self- interest is righteousness. Seeking first the kingdom of God (Matthew 6:33) is self-interest. Judas’ complaint about the perfume that Mary poured on Jesus’ feet, is self-centeredness on his part. How would have preferred to steal the money had Mary opted to give the money’s worth to Jesus!
