truly was reflected in their misplaced anger as they took up stones to throw at Him at that kind of statement.
Imagine ‘men’ taking up stones to throw at God, the Son of God! Imagine Jesus having to hide Himself from mere men who tried to stone Him! This is the same God wiped out man from the surface of the earth by flooding the earth with rain. This is the God who answers by fire. This is the same God who turned Lot’s wife instantly into a pillar of salt following her disobedience. He is the God who brought confusion into the midst of armies of Ammon, Moab and Mount Seir such that they destroyed themselves all without Judah lifting a hand. Jesus was now dodging stones thrown at Him by ordinary men when a simple gesture from Him could have turned them into ashes or salt instantly. However, that was not the purpose for which He came. He came to save and not to destroy.
Coming as a man, Jesus endured severe limitations. The same limitations that bedeviled man also presented themselves before Him. Jesus who dwelt with the Holy Spirit in heaven now had to be “endued with power from on high” as well before He could embark upon His mission (Matthew 3:16-17; Luke 24:49;
