The Man In Love
Now imagine gain the death He died on the cross. By dying on the cross, He became cursed for our sake! The bible says that any man who hangs on a tree is cursed (Galatians 3:13-14). It is untold humiliation for one who called Himself the Son of God and also claimed that God had given Him the power to judge all things, to be hung by men on a cross! Jesus went to this extent because of His love for us. They even put a crown of thorns upon His head, such agony and such excruciating pain. Then He had to go into the grave also. He died and was buried, and had to depend on His Father to raise Him up by the same Holy Spirit.
These are all things that Jesus bore on our behalf by standing in our place. If we understand that this was purely out of His love for us, His church, and we accept the commandment to do to our wives as He did to His church, then we should beginning to ask ourselves if our relationship with our wives have been characterized by sacrifices comparable to the ones made by Christ for us. Most of us will accept that we have lived our lives at standards well below what He demands of us in terms of sacrifice. Most of us husbands have been too puffed up, seeking to enforce our authority and demanding submission when in fact Jesus
