relationships, it must actually be pointed out that submission is love. Submission is an act demonstrating love. When wives submit to their husbands they demonstrate that they are in love. A woman in love with her husband would naturally submit to him to evidence it. It takes being in love to submit. Look at what Jesus said again,
“Therefore My Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I may take it again. No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This command I have received from My Father.”
John 10:17-18
Jesus makes the point here that He received a command to lay His life down for us from His Father. That means that His Father commanded Him to submit His life and He willfully complied with that command. It is true that He was commanded to submit to the Lordship of the Father like the wife is commanded to submit to the headship of the husband, and He did so willingly to demonstrate the willingness with which the wife is also required to submit to her husband. Jesus is the example and it can be seen that He has not asked wives, and indeed husbands, to do what He did not first do toward His Father. Indeed, He has not
