The Man In Love
Peter makes this point very succinctly in the foregoing scripture. He shows that the sincere love of the brethren expressed by the saints was an outcome of the operation of God’s Spirit in them. This privilege of the Spirit itself is accessed when we are born again through the word of God that is the incorruptible seed. What the world describes as love is at variance with the ‘love’ commanded by God through Jesus His Son. The love that Jesus talks about is exhibited by keeping His commandments. John 15:10 says,
If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father's commandments and abide in His love.
John 15:10
Again, we see that those who do not know God also do not know His commandments or His word, and they cannot keep it. It is therefore, impossible for them to express the love that Jesus talked about.
