The Man In Love
unless you abide in Me. “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.
John 15:4-5
Following from what we said earlier that love is a fruit of the Spirit of God, the above scripture confirms that we have the ability to show love when we abide in Jesus Christ. In effect therefore, husbands are not being commended to give what they do not have. Rather, God knows that they are capable of showing love and that is why the commandment was given.
We have the assurance of God in His word that He will not tempt us. He will not allow us to face a challenge that we do not have the capacity to overcome. That itself is the love of God in action.
Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall. No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.
