P. 6
Honorary Degree, Doctor of Philosophy in Political Science (Studies)
A lot can be written about this candidate. However, and perhaps obviously, a
Honoris Causa citation is not meant to be in any way an in-depth biography of Gaob. I have
therefore, resisted the attractive temptation to make this manuscript, a life
history of Gaob Justus ǁGaroëb and the history of the Damara people. I do,
however, wish to acknowledge and thank Dr Kletus Likuwa, a Senior Researcher
from the Multidisciplinary Research Services at UNAM, and Mr Noah !Gaoseb,
Senior Lecturer in the Department of Applied Educational Sciences (DAES),
for collecting the data and for helping to compile the draft version of this
citation. Similarly, I am grateful to Professor Nelago Indongo, Director of the
Centre for Research Services, and Dr John Nyambe, Associate Dean: School
of Education for allowing these resourceful academics to undertake the
assigned responsibilities. I further thank the Damara Raad, that is, the Chief’s
Council members to Gaob, for closely working with the researchers during the
data collection and compiling process. Gaob, I am grateful to the design and
layout team, Dr Kudumo the Director of International Relations, and Corporate
Engagement, John Rittmann, and Nigel Mkwaira, as well as to Ms Tsuses who
graciously assisted with protocols, and many follow up questions. Due care has
been taken in preparing this manuscript, I must state, however, that should there
be any errors, I solely take responsibility for any omission in this citation.
