Honorary Degree, Doctor of Philosophy in Language Studies (Literature)
CONCLUSION AND PRESENTATION OF THE GRADUAND
Honoris Causa In conclusion, Your Excellency, Mr Chancellor Sir, our Candidate Mr.
Ndjembo’s contributions have gone beyond the Aawambo people
as he has become a Namibian treasure, through the preservation and
appreciation of our country’s written literature, domestic history, cultures,
and traditions. Our Candidate Mr. Ndjembo, thus deserves the honour
to be conferred an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Language Studies
(Literature), as we consider him to be a preserver of our intangible
heritage and has earned distinction in service to the Namibian nation.
Mr Chancellor Sir, given the report I have just presented to you and to
the congregation of the University of Namibia, and the evidence that
have been scrutinised by the Honorary Degree Committee, the Senate
Executive Committee and that has been approved by the Council of
the University of Namibia, I present to you, Mr Chancellor Sir, Mr. Angula
Thomas Ndjembo to be awarded the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy
Honoris Causa in Language Studies (Literature).
I am convinced that awarding this degree to our Candidate Mr. Ndjembo
will not only recognise his achievements but promote the preservation of
our historical heritage, linguistic and cultural diversity, and encourage
our youth/students to follow in his footsteps.
Finally, I will fail in my duty if I do not acknowledge the prior work done
by the University of Namibia researcher, Dr Petrus Mbenzi who put the
first draft manuscript together. I further thank Dr E. Namhila for doing the
final inputs on this citation. I am also grateful to Dr Marius Kudumo and his
team, namely Mr Nigel Mkwaira for the layout and design.
I thank you!
