6. WHY THE DOCTORATE OF PHILOSOPHY IN LANGUAGE STUDIES
Honoris Causa Mr. Ndjembo is a living encyclopaedia who excels in written literature
(LITERATURE)?

and oral history. His achievements include amongst others:

(1) Three Novels
(2) Two Short Stories
(3) Twenty-two plays, of which most are translated into English to
make them more accessible to the wider Namibian community
and abroad;
(4) One Training Manual; and
(5) He produced and directed five radio dramas for the Namibian
Broadcasting Corporation NBC.

Mr. Ndjembo has further immensely contributed to community service
through the translation of health and education material into Oshindonga
in order to make such material accessible to Aawambo people who
cannot read English. He has also been instrumental in translating several
guiding texts on educational and health matters for publication by the
Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health and Social Services.

For the Ministry of Education he translated the following:
(1) Functions of the school board. Functions of the principal (Supervisor:
Jason Mbodo – Head, Ongwediva Teachers Resource Center)

For Ministry of Health and Social Services, he translated the following:
(1) Positive living with HIV/AIDS in the community [E.U. (Supervisor: Dr.
Van der Veen);

(2) Caring for yourself;
