Mr Angula Thomas Ndjemb
1. INTRODUCTION
Mr. Ndjembo was born on 26 August 1950, to a farming family, at Honoris Causa
Oshoopala in Uukwiyu wUushona. From an early age, as the eldest child
in the family, he participated in various family chores such as tending to
the family livestock, ploughing, weeding, cooking and taking care of his
siblings. These activities delayed the start of his educational career.
2. HIS PURSUIT FOR EDUCATION
Mr. Ndjembo commenced his kindergarden, almost aged eight in
1958, and completed Sub A in 1959 at the Uukwiyu wUushona Primary
School. He, then shifted to Okashandja Primary School in 1960, where he
completed the then Sub B, Standard One and Two. From 1963-1965, he
enrolled at the Olukonda Primary School, where he completed Standard
Three and Four. The School was situated 12 kilometres from his homestead
and he could only attend school three days a week as he had to tend
to the family livestock. Mr. Ndjembo completed Standard Five and Six at
Onayena Jongenskool from 1966-1967.
In 1968, Mr. Ndjembo commenced secondary school at the Ongwediva
Opleiding Sentrum where he studied up to Form Three. In 1971, Mr.
Ndjembo alongside other students went on strike, demanding that the
South African Government withdraw from Namibia in accordance with
the ruling of the International Court of Justice in June 1971. The striking
students at that time, marched to the Ondangwa Bantu Administration
office with a list of demands based on the Universal Declaration on
Human Rights. As a striking student, Mr. Ndjembo could not return to
school which resulted in him venturing into a new academic journey.
From 1972 to 1974, Mr. Ndjembo enrolled for the Auxiliary Nursing Training
and, then General Nursing Training which he completed in 1977 at
the Oshakati State Hospital. From November 1977 to October 1978, he
enrolled for Midwifery Training at the Katutura State Hospital. In July 1979,
