8 UNIVERSITY OF NAMIBIA
2. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
VICE CHANCELLOR
On the threshold of a promising new
decade, and ever mindful of the
challenges involved in realising Namibia’s
Vision 2030, the opportune time is ripe for
UNAM to consolidate its strengths, build
on the University’s accomplishments and
redouble efforts to support government
and be ready to embrace and drive the
implementation of the 4th and 5th industrial
revolutions.
This strategic plan aims to ensure that all
efforts of UNAM are aligned to achieve
our common purpose of eliminating
inefficiencies, increasing performance and
producing quality, employable graduates.
The University’s academic programmes
and management structures take into
account the World Economic Forum’s 2016
report, titled The Future of Jobs and Skills:
Employment, Skills and Workforce Strategy
for the Fourth Industrial Revolution, Vision
2030, the 5th National Development Plan
(NDP5), as well as industrialisation and
growth at home policies of government.
With this new strategy, the University
envisions being “a sustainable international
hub of excellence in higher education,
training, research and innovation by 2030”.
To do so, our objective is to create a
stronger, more cohesive University, which
is ready to tackle complex 21st-century
challenges and technologies, thereby to Prof. Kenneth Matengu
