Aim: This study examines the ethnomathematics of the Vamanyo and
Vakwangali in the Kavango East and Kavango West regions.
Methodology: The study included twenty participants, ten from each
region. Observations, document analysis, semi-structure, video clips
and focus groups constituted the data collection methods. The
measuring tape and Vernier calipers were used in conjunction to
measure the internal and external dimensions as well as the height of a
number of artefacts.
Results: The findings revealed that the curriculum should be aligned
with the reality of the learner for them to fully participate and operate
effectively in the modern world. Furthermore, the study indicates that
mathematics is incorporated in the two cultures, as the Esasa and
Sintunga artefacts are rectangular, whereas the Sikuku, Sididi, and
Muduva artefacts are conical.Further investigation demonstrated that
ethnomathematics is relevant and intelligible in the classroom context.
Keywords: Sintunga, conical shape, ethnomathematics, Indigenous

10. Mbango K. N., Mushaandja-Mufeti, M. N.,Iipinge S. M., The
implications of the policy directive on learners’ appearance to
teaching and learning in secondary schools in Oshana Region,
Namibia
The Ministry of Education issued a directive on the on the general
rules of conduct for learners’ appearance at state and private schools.
According to the Ministry, the purpose of the directive was to nullify
all the school rules that force learners to shave their heads or banish
learners due to their hairstyles. Any school rule that does not conform
to this directive should be null and void because it is believed to be
discriminatory and not in accordance with the Namibian constitution
which is the Supreme Law of the country as per Article 1.
