Kindly take note of the following:
SOCIAL MEDIA
Social media is the currency of 21st century communications. It is the platform from which we speak,
announce, declare, amuse, engage and share information with all our stakeholders. The university
has several social media platforms that serve as additional approved communication tools. CEIRD
is responsible for the management of the corporate social media platforms of the University (e.g.
Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram and LinkedIn). All University sub-social media accounts
should conform to the University brand and tone, and should follow, mention and share from and to
other UNAM core branded sites and accounts.
The social media procedures document provides social media processes as an internal and external
communication tool stipulated in the University of Namibia CEIRD Policy.
CRISES COMMUNICATION
The crisis communication guidelines provide communication procedures to be followed by all
staff and students of the University of Namibia during and immediately after a crisis or emergency.
The plan outlines the roles, responsibilities and protocols which will guide efficient and effective
information exchange amongst and with stakeholders during a crisis.
Any crisis or emergency must be reported immediately to the Head of UNAM Security at the
respective campus.
WEBSITE CONTENT MANAGEMENT
The official website provides a first-point-of-entry to prospective students, researchers and other
stakeholders. It is therefore important to keep the website updated and relevant at all times. The
website content management procedures provide a clear approach to manage the University of
Namibia website content institution-wide and how updates will be dealt with. It provides a campus,
faculty, school or directorate with ways to participate in a timely manner and deliver updated and
desired information for the website.
PUBLIC COMMENTS
The dissemination of knowledge to society is a key responsibility of universities. The University of
Namibia encourages its academic and professional staff to contribute to public commentary and
debate on the basis of their professional competence without unreasonable interference and
restriction.
The public comment procedures outlines the rights and responsibilities of the University of Namibia
staff and students when commenting on public forums, including all media platforms.
CEIRD can thus be consulted on all projects that ultimately promote and market the University of
Namibia to its internal and external stakeholders and the general public.
If you are not sure whom to contact for your project at our directorate, send an email to marketing.
