TEARS OF SUFFERING
like a fish to save a goal, everybody shouted and
applauded. His magic touch in football amazed the
spectators. That was one reason Tshoden admired him.
One day, Tshoden tapped her finger on the edge of
Ugyen’s desk. “Hi Ugyen, can you do me a favour,
please?”
He flashed a wide grin to her. “Sure, Tshoden. What is
it?”
“I have a doubt,” she said. “Can you help me out?”
“Let me see if I can.”
She brought her mathematics textbook and opened it
before him. “I can’t solve this.”
Ugyen solved it for her.
With each passing day, their intimacy burgeoned as
platonic good friends. When teachers didn’t turn up,
Tshoden went to Ugyen’s seat to discuss the lessons.
They walked to school and back home together.
Tshoden enjoyed Ugyen’s company. In her life, that was
the only year she felt her time passing blissfully. As she
realized her crucial days with Ugyen passed away swiftly,
she experienced a woe pierce her heart she had never felt
before.
