“You have been extremely lucky to get this. The location is crazy.” Her
voice sounds a bit hoarse; it always does when she’s eager.
Noticeably satisfied by her comment, Mitchel smiles and continues.
"Yes it is me, now I just have to get started as soon as possible. I have four
artists ready, who will, soon as possible, be exhibited”
Katrin says. “Yeah. But I mean, how do you get a room in the most attrac-
tive part of Berlin without having to throw millions after it?"
“Hmm” He hesitates for a moment before confidently answering, leaning
towards her.
“Well… The lease is not cheap, so I have to sell for at least 50,000 a month and
that also applies this month. If I don’t make the cash I’m in trouble.”
“50,000?!” She says, noticeably chocked by the number. She continues:
”I'll help you. Maybe I can apply for a leave from my studies - I need a break any-
way - and I would much rather stand here and sell fine art than get dusty inside
the university halls.”
At that very moment, the lock pops up, and he gently opens the first of the
two doors. It creaks as soon as he pushes it. The sound of the hinges that hasn’t
been lubricated in at least over three decades. Mitchel proceeds to open the
other creaky door, and says with a little laugh.
“Welcome to Gallery Hinterglaub. The finest art place in town.”
“Gallery Hinterglaub,” she repeats. "Why that name?"
"Explanation follows,” he answers.
As soon as they get inside, they spontaneously wrap their arms around each
other.
“Congratulations, Mitch! This is crazy!" She says, as they slowly release
each other’s firm hug. They stand for a moment in the dark reception looking at
each other, not saying anything.
“Well, let's take a look at all the glory,” mumbles Mitchel, breaking the si-
lence. He goes to a switch on the light in the room besides the door. A clear,
bright light fills up the room, perfect for exhibiting art. In the middle of the first
room, there is a reception, a large old wooden counter carved in fine oak with
beautiful ornaments along the sides. Katrin lets a finger glide over the thick layer
of dust that covers it.
