change its form by allowing it to be expressed
consciously in the real world, or remain buried
deep as denied feelings. But, the fact that it
has been cognitively denied doesn't mean that
it's gone away!
In our modern, Western world, we’re taught
to rationalise, to rely heavily on the thinking
part of our world experience. We are trained
to ‘master’ our feelings. But the truth is, we
can’t bury our feelings, nor should we attempt
to – they’re an essential key to unlock a deeper
understanding of what’s really going on.
Although our highly-developed intellectual
process is capable of over-riding our
autonomic or involuntary nervous system, it
can only do so after due consideration. We can
think, or we can act spontaneously.
Unfortunately, we can't do both at once. But
then, who says we have to? It can easily be
demonstrated that we don't need to think or
talk in order to perceive what's going on in the
