has direct, first-hand access to the world
around us. The body comes up with the goods.
The psyche is a closed system that can only
interpret - make sense of - what the soma
actually experiences. We like to think of
ourselves as reasonable people, certainly. But
is it reasonable to treat one half of our total
being as if it were the very devil, fit only to give
piggy-back rides to the saintly psyche perched
up there in the bony confines of the skull?
Whether the psyche accepts it or not, the fact
remains that if the existential split is to be
healed we must first experience whatever it is
that our physical polarity is presently going
through and interpret that - however much we
may be pre-occupied with retrospective
thinking.
