MEMORIAL PARK
MEMORIAL PARK
E. DIVISION ST Existing Conditions and Usable Space
CURRENT USE - Memorial Park is currently zoned as R8, and is owned
by the DDP (Downtown Dover Partnership). Memorial Park in its current
state is mostly made up of green/lawn space. At the southern portion
of the park, the fireman's memorial (which has been relocated to the
legislative green) is the only built element of the park, and is not being
utilized to the fullest. The park sits only a few feet above sea level
which causes large areas of the park to become flooded during rain
events.
PROPOSED USE - Memorial park serves as an open space gateway into
PARK DR
downtown Dover. Given the park currently has few amenities, features
such as an amphitheater, art walk loop, and gathering spaces would be
proposed within the park to promote more foot traffic, activities and
events to take place.
