The Program is closer to the
indigenous justice
In areas where indigenous law practices
exist, local leaders are recognized as facilita-
tors, and their work is brought closer to the
work of local judges. The joint work of local
judges and indigenous leaders who, like the
Nicaraguan judges (community judges) exer-
cise functions to resolve conflicts, have brou-
ght indigenous justice practices closer to the
practices of official law, establishing a bridge
of communication and regeneration of trust
fractured for centuries.
