Urdaneta City University
and adopted 5 - year water system facility development plan based on standards.
Using the modified Dannenberg’s (1994) design which is to describe and analyze, design and
develop based on the compliance on a certain standard..
The following are the Salient Findings: 1. Some part of the drainage system does not
conform with section 131 of the National Plumbing Code Standards, that waste water should not
mix with storm water, 2.The number of drinking fountains does not meet the required standard
based on ratio 1 unit is to 75 students, there are 7 existing units with more than 9,000 students,
so the university needs to install 118 units more, 3. Toilets for Male and female students are
not enough to cater the present population of the University. 4. Galvanized iron pipes are still
used in old buildings, 5. Water closets, lavatories and urinals for male and female students
are not sufficient if standards of the Plumbing Code of the Philippines are required, 6. There
are no urinals for male employees in offices toilets, 7. There is no water treatment facility in the
university, 8. Ground water level goes up to one meter during rainy season causing overflow
to septic tanks and 9. High consumption of electricity bill up to 35 % increase due to so many
motorized pumps used in supplying water to the university.
Based on the conditions of the existing Urdaneta City University water system facilities,
the following are the conclusions drawn from the findings: 1. It is required to close the
discrepancies shown among the existing water system facilities and the proposed water system
facilities, 2. Follow standards based on the Plumbing Code of the Philippines and 3 . The 5 year
water system facility development plan of the Urdaneta City University, build up in this study is a
workable plan that could serve as a basis for implementation or could be modified and executed.
The following are the recommendations based on the conclusions: 1. Frequent
monitoring of the 5 year water system facilities of the 5 development plan is extremely suggested,
2. Active participation in decision making is strongly recommended, as a consequence of
agreement and synchronization, 3. The 5 year Water System Facility Development Plan is very
much advocated to serve as a basis for the implementation of the project at Urdaneta City
University, 4. The data or information on the present status of the water system facility of the
Urdaneta City University indicates that it needs improvement and should follow standards of
the National Plumbing Code, 5. There should be a well planned water system facility to be used
in upgrading the water system efficiently and effectively and 6. The proposed water system
facility should be constructed in accordance with the standards of the Plumbing Code of the
Philippines.
