                                    GARRY T. ROMANO

This study aimed to have a deeper and clearer understanding on the implementation of
the awards and incentive program of the Local Government Units’.
Specifically, this study sought to determine the following: 1) it dealt on the profile of the
respondents namely: age, sex, civil status, highest educational attainment and number of years
in service; 2) it also focused on the awards and incentives program of the Local Government
Units’; 3) determined the effects of the awards and incentives program to the employees of the
Local Government Units’; 4) dealt on the problems encountered by the LGU’s in implementing
the program; and 5) dealt on the significant relationship of awards and incentives program to
        the performance of LGU employees.
The descriptive type of research was utilized with questionnaire. A total of four hundred
        (400) respondents from the Two Local Government Units in the key major cities of Pangasinan
        were sampled.
Data were treated using the average weighted to determine the implementation of the
awards and incentive program, the effects of these programs to the employees and the problems
        encountered in implementing these programs.
The findings revealed the following: First, most respondents were 36 years old and
above, married, college graduate with more than 21 years of service. Second, the awards
programs of both LGU’s are moderately complied while the incentive programs are being complied
by the LGU’s. Third, the effects of these awards and incentive program to the employees of LGU’s
are said to be effective. Fourth, Problems encountered by the LGU’s in implementing the awards
and incentive program were treated as Moderately Serious.
The researcher therefore concludes that employees who received proper incentive may
boost their morale to exert more effort to become more productive, committed and loyal to their
        respective job.
The following recommendations are then forwarded taking into account the findings and
conclusions of this study: Management should offer more career development plans, attractive
benefits and conducive working environment for the welfare of its employees. In doing so,
employees will stick more with the company. Management should conduct a periodic performance
evaluation as a basis of giving awards and incentives to their employees. Management must give
the necessary awards and incentives to its deserving employees. The adoption of the Proposed
Intervention Measures would greatly contribute to the success of the implementation of the
awards and incentives program of the Local Government Units’.
