P. 5
Do you think a leader should have Humility and Fierce Resolve,
and why?
I do think it is very important to have these qualities. Being a leader
does not mean that you are first in line. I think of the Chinese proverb
that says ‘What will they say about the greatest leader of all?’ and the
response was ‘We did it ourselves’. At my office in Palo Alto you will
see this caption “We do what we do and we do it together”. To me this
is the most important principle.
How do you balance work and life?
It’s an interesting concept. If life were perfectly balanced we will be completely bored. You know we like the
thrill of the chase, we like the challenge of the project. What I like is the concept of being in the present. So if
I am with my family I am fully immersed in the magical moments. When I am at work, quite often I step away
from my cabin and sit at a small table with my team members, I leave my computer and phone behind and
concentrate on what the other person is saying. Hence the concept of being in the present is very important.
What is the most interesting thing that people don’t know about you?
People will be surprised to know that I volunteer at Bingo hall for fund raising. Once a month I am calling
Bingo in the small town I live in. That’s something which is different.
