Thank you for making VMware one of the Fortune 100 Best Companies
to Work For!
Fortune announced that for the third time, VMware has earned a place on its U.S. “100 Best
Companies to Work For” list. We earned the #42 spot this year, cementing our place as a
company that stands apart from our peers for creating a trust-based culture where employ-
ees thrive. Competition is becoming more fierce for these rankings, and our score this year
is a tremendous testament to our people, our culture and our values. In fact, 92% of our
people surveyed said that VMware is a great place to work, a higher percentage than in
previous years and higher than others on this list. We are also happy to share that VMware was recog-
nized as #9 out of companies located in the San Francisco Bay Area and #9 out of information technol-
ogy companies on the list.
All Electric Cab Service
VMware India recently partnered with India's first all-electric cab service
– Lithium Cabs to provide employees with green transportation in order
to reduce carbon footprints while transporting employees in the city of
Bangalore. The transition from diesel fleet cars to electric cars for daily
employee pick and drop helps overcome challenges such as fuel cost,
battery life, safety, battery charging infra and most importantly is an envi-
ronment friendly cab service. By using eco-friendly cars, VMware India saves 440 tons on carbon diox-
ide in just one year and reduces pollution on the road. The electric cab service commenced in February
2017 and VMware India now has over 37 cars transporting employees to and fro with plans to further
increase the number in future basis requirements.
Green Power
VMware India recently sealed a deal with its builders to enable two of its largest buildings based in the
city of Bangalore – Kalyani Vista and Kalyani Magnum – to receive 85% of
their power from renewable energy. Kalyani Vista will receive wind energy
for close to 438,000 sq. ft. while Kalyani Magnum will receive energy for
nearly 206,212 sq.ft. from wind power turbines located in the State of
Karnataka.
With the achievement of Kalyani Vista’s LEED Platinum® certification along
with the two buildings now being powered by renewable energy, VMware
India aims at achieving high performance in sustainable site development,
water conservation, energy efficiency, materials selection and indoor
environmental quality.
