Who Are We

Christian DeVries

Christian draws on more than two decades of experience in Higher Education and
College Athletics working with individuals, teams, and organizations. As the
Executive Director and Founder of VOLTA, Christian has developed innovative
solutions that take the best elements of sports and applies them in a context that
encourages personal development, professional growth, advancement in creative
leadership, and improving interpersonal relationships. He gently guides individuals
and teams to design their leadership potential and clarify unseen obstacles to their
effectiveness. Prior to VOLTA, Christian served as both men’s and women’s Head
Soccer Coach at the intercollegiate level including NAIA, NCAA II, and NCAA III
schools for over 20 years as well as five years as a high school and club coach.
Additionally, he was an NCAA compliance officer, a collegiate and high school soc-
cer official, and an instructor of Sports Management at the university level for 15
years. He lives in Phoenix, AZ with his wife and three kids.

Boyd Hamlin

As a speaker, trainer and coach, Boyd’s desire is to help individuals build on their
dreams, optimize their influence and maximize leadership potential. He provides
guidance on how to build a determination and discipline to get where we want to go,
how to help ‘leave a mark’ by living an intentional life day-in and day-out, and how
to say ‘YES’ to inner potential. For the past 25 years, Boyd’s greatest joy has come
from helping others exceed their current capacity by encouraging, equipping and
empowering them to be the best version of themselves that they can be. Prior to
collaborating with Christian and VOLTA, he spent 25 years in Student Ministry.
Boyd’s focus is in building everyday leaders who choose to live with intentionality,
from the boardroom to the custodian’s closet, from the locker room to the class-
room, believing everyone has the opportunity to change the world. A leader isn’t
defined by the title they have, but by the life they lead. Boyd lives in Albuquerque,
NM with his wife and they have 2 boys.

Cover Artist - Rick Alonzo

An artist and evangelist, Rick Alonzo devoted his life to God’s service in 1992. Rick’s
unique and inspiring presentations feature him painting pictures that symbolize Christ’s
love. Set to contemporary music, Rick incorporates martial arts and gymnastics to
demonstrate the power and grace inherent in God’s word. Using his hands and feet, and
the love of the Lord that’s on fire in his heart, Rick illustrates the Gospel and shares a
message of hope for a lost and dying world.
