Should a college or University Education be Tuition free?
Tuition is the sum of money charged for teaching or instruction by school. Some time ago
most of the universities used to collect money to supply their administrative problems. But why
is the importance of having a free tuition free? Most of the students say that public universities
are better than the private ones.
First of all the constitution demands that every citizen has the right to have a quality, free
education, most of the students choose to study in a public college because they do not have to
pay anything. But applying for a public college could be difficult too. According to SNNA
every student has to do an exam and get at least 700 points. However, some students could not
get it because there are not many vacancies and they have to wait a long time for it. My friend
Valeria did not find a vacancy, so she decide to go to a private college where the tuitions are
very expensive. Nevertheless, some of those students could get a scholarship and they only
have to pay half- tuition.
Finally, over the last five years public colleges had improved their infrastructure and they
had chosen better professors. Every public college demands to their professors have a fourth
level degree, attend to courses and write academic articles. They are also supported by the
Ministry of Education and their wages are better than years ago. For teachers, working in a
public college is also difficult, because they have to apply for an “achievement’s contest” that
means that the more degrees they have the more opportunities they have to apply for that
vacancy.
In conclusion, free college tuition had helped many poor students get a degree and obtain a
good job. Education must be free because is our right and could give us better opportunities.
