Along the years women were not considered as citizens, they were the way to preserve the
family’s name. But today women’s roles had changed in different ways, especially in the
political vacancies and in women’s rights.
First women lived in a society where men were who were educated and had the control of every
aspect in society. Women could not read books about politics, science or philosophy, they only
could read novels or books that their teachers gave to them. Women could vote for a candidate
in elections. They had not voice or opinion; however, women today can be part of a politic
group or be a candidate for a political vacancies such as president, mayor or senator. And
women’s vote is mandatory as the others citizens and also is their duty with democracy.
Second women’s rights had changed along the last generations. In the past women did not
had rights, they had to do what their parents or husbands wanted they to do. Another aspect is
that parents had to choose a good husband to their daughters. Women also have not the
opportunity to choose what they want to study, they were educated to be good housewives and
take care of their children. In contrast today women have the opportunity to choose if they get
married or not or if they want to have children. Nowadays many women want to get their
college degrees and start their own professional lives.
In conclusion times had changed and also the stereotypes of men thought about women.
Had showed they are capable to develop any kind of roles in the different areas, and they can
do it as well as men do.
