work on their game. As a group we wanted to make videos of the correct physical and verbal responses to the questions in the game, but again, we did not consider how much time we had to do that and also work on our other three videos. A collaboration with Alejandra may have been possible if we were to have just focused on one smaller video and then the rest of our project just be smaller clips for Alejandra’s game. Unfortunately, we planned for too many other videos and wanted to put all of our focus in those other video ideas. Even though we did not collaborate with Alejandra, I think that both the videos and games separately were phenomenal.
6. What did you learn about using a variety of mediums to spread the message?
If I learned anything in this class, it is that all of the mediums work together to create a holistic message. Social media worked with everyone, from advertising each piece of the project to reaching out to other web users who might find our project important. Comics were the first visuals that we sent out, which filled viewers with passion and respect, and others with confusion and conflicting opinions. Bloggers discussed events involving discrimination, and the comics and the videos made that discrimination visually evident. Games challenged viewers to think about these events that people are hearing about through the bloggers, comics and videos posted on social media. The website manager posts all of the content into one specific place where web users can visit to educate themselves about what all is happening; the website is the home base. Moreover, social media is like the news, and the website is like the book of knowledge. All of the mediums collect together to tell one story, but without all the mediums, our message cannot be fully understood.
7. Of all the various mediums used in the Multimedia project, which do you think was the most effective and why?
Personally, I think that social media was the most effective medium in this project. This is because most youth use social media, especially Instagram. When accounts like Mustang in the Room are available on many platforms, people familiarize themselves with the account and then are more likely to keep looking at the information the accounts send out. Instagram was especially effective because we could post everything on the account. Users can see posts that could be photos, videos, comics, blog posts, game information, or website information. Whoever followed the instagram new exactly what was going on, and how to get to the information they wanted to. Instagram is much more organized than Facebook, as an app itself, not because of who ran each account. It is clear which post is which, almost like a virtual scrapbook, while Facebook posts can appear random and sometimes out of place. Facebook and Instagram were both the most useful apps in spreading information, but I think Instagram is easier for the youth to use and allowed more students to find out what they needed to about Mustang in the Room. We were able to gain many
