SPOTLIGHT ON RV19

          Spotlight on Tim Slaughter, Superintendent

          When did you join Loram?
I started working with Loram on March 3 of 2014 as a General Laborer on RV4.
                                                rd
After that I began floating around to other machines where needed. I moved up to
an Operator-1 and then an Operator-2. RV14 was my first chance to run a ma-
chine. That is where I got promoted to a Crew Chief. I was promoted to Superin-
tendent in January of 2019 while running RV18. Currently I am running RV19 in
          Canada.

          Where are you from?
I am originally from Bethany, MO. I moved to Sarasota, FL in 2017. The best thing
about living in Florida is the weather and living near the ocean.

How do you pass the time when you get a day off?
On days off I usually just like to relax in the hotel.

What is your favorite thing to do when you’re on time off?
My favorite thing to do on time off is to hang out with friends and go to the beach.

Do you have a favorite location you’ve been at while working at Loram?
My favorite location is anywhere in British Columbia, Canada. I like working there because of the scenery.

What is your favorite memory from this past year and your favorite thing about working at Loram?
I don’t know if I have a favorite memory from this year, it’s been a good year overall. My favorite thing about work-
ing for Loram is the travel. I’ve been able to surround myself with some great co-workers in the railvac fleet.

Can you describe the best task and the worst task to perform on the machine?
The best task would be getting to operate the rail vac. The worst task would probably be cleaning out the dust
                                           hopper.

Share the best advice you were given, and who was it from?
The best advice I have received was from Danny Benke (RV16) and Wayne
Myrick (RV16) when I was getting ready to take over RV14. That advice was:
“Just do your job and you’ll be fine.” They said, “you know what you’re doing.”

What advice would you give to a new employee at Loram?
You need to be willing to learn and apply yourself and you’ll be fine.

Is there a skill that you would like to master?
Yes. As far as a skill that would help me with Loram, I would like to be able to
                                           improve on my welding skills.

What is something about yourself that would surprise your co-workers?
I’m a huge fan of Anne Murray.
