CONGRATULATIONS TO THE CLASS OF 2017

UM MBBS Session 2012/17

In October, we marked the culmination of four days of the Convocation Ceremony where we
honoured our graduands - past and present, undergraduate and postgraduates.

We saw a total of 302 graduates this year, with 201 from MBBS, 46 from Pharmacy, 8 from
Nursing, 39 from Biomedical Science and 8 from Radiology. We also had 370 postgraduate
students who graduated this year.

On the Sunday of the graduation ceremony, esteemed paediatrician, father of bone marrow

transplantation in Malaysia, and alumnus of UM, Professor Lin Hai Peng was awarded the title
Emeritus Professor.

Congratulations to all our graduates and to Professor Lin Hai Peng for your accomplishments.

Watching the graduates walk across the stage beaming with relief and pride and the occasional
nod of thanks to me as they walk off is something I cherish and look forward to each year.
