The decisions to award competencies will be based on the quality and relevance of the pieces of
evidence presented for the occupational area.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES TO BE ASSESSED
The knowledge and skills students are expected to develop on completion of this syllabus, have been
grouped under three headings:
1. Craftsmanship;
2. Design and Composition;
3. Originality; and,
4. Research (Theory, Process and Practice of Visual Arts).
DEFINITION OF PROFILE DIMENSIONS
1. Craftsmanship:
- The ability to demonstrate knowledge of materials, media, traditions and Visual Art
processes.
2. Design and Composition:
- The ability to apply materials, media and methods to complete stated objectives.
3. Originality:
- The ability to demonstrate personal expression and creativity.
4. Research (Theory, Process and Practice of Visual Arts):
- The ability to organise and report research findings and apply knowledge of Visual Art
techniques, materials, media, traditions and practitioners.
