My First Casa Experience
Participating teams came from as far north as
Bermuda and as far south as Guyana. The teams
were Jamaica, Cayman Islands, Barbados,
Bermuda, Bahamas, Guyana, Trinidad and Tobago,
and St Vincent and the Grenadines.
The competition took place over a one week
period. For the games, our parents chose our
country’s road march as the team chant. Every
time one of our players hit a shot, the Vincy
parents would chant, “Lehgo ting, lehgo ting,
lehgo ting, lehgo ting on the court!” Several other
teams also had chants, and would cheer their
players to the top of their voices.
The competition was tough. I was nervous but not
afraid of any opponent. I was determined to play
my best. My first match was easy and I won.
My second match was a bit harder but I still won.
My third match was even harder and I lost, but I
am still proud of myself. When I was not playing, I
was supporting my teammates by cheering,
offering encouragement and getting them water.
