My First Casa Experience

We spent all day at the courts, and ate lunch and

dinner at the Queens Park Complex. Lunch was

usually a sandwich or pizza. For dinner, we got to

savour, ‘Buss up shot, Palori, Alloo Pie’ and other

Trinidadian dishes. My favourite thing was the
fruit and sweet treats after lunch. The watermelon

was sweet and juicy, and I loved the banana

          bread, doughnuts and cupcakes.

After the matches each day, we were very tired.
Back at the hotel, if we were not so tired we went

to the pool, but only after our team

meeting, which our coaches held every evening.

At the end of the competition, I emerged the
third place winner in my age category. I was now

officially number 3 in the Caribbean in Boys’

Under 11. It was such an exhilarating feeling to

hear my name called to receive my trophy, and to

hear the cheers of the audience and see the

flashing camera lights. Three other members of
the St Vincent team also won trophies.

          Our coaches were pleased.
