Chronicles of a Grenadian American Boy in Turks & Caicos Islands

Our stay in Grenada was amazing!! We visited

family and historical sites that my sister and I had
never been to before. Our favourite places to go

were Grand Anse Beach, Umbrellas Restaurant and

Rick’s Cafe for their delicious pizza: the best pizza

         ever!

Grenada is known for its annual carnival festival,

which has been celebrated on the island since the

Europeans occupied the island. My parents are

avid lovers of carnival, Dad would take part in the

panorama (playing the steelpan) and Mom would
be nicely dressed in her costume to take part in the

         parade.

Grenada is also known for having the best

J’ouvert (pronounced Jouvay)… in the world. It is a
celebration of the “Emancipation of the Slaves” my

sister and I got to experience it for the first time!
