■Craft Licenses, Shew an increase of to.220/-. The
boatbuilding industry is steadily progressing, and the
tendency during the past year lias been towards larger
Bahrain-built Joliboats equipped with British Kelvin
engines varying from 25 to 60 horsepower, rhese craft are
engaged in cargo work with the Mainland, and also tawwasha
work with the pearling fleets. Trips in such craft have
been made from Bahrain to Kuwait und return, to Busnire
and return, and to Dubai and return. I believe there is a
great future for the Bahrain-built craft equipped with a
motor engine, but I would prefer to see such craft also
equipped with a sail.
■Government Lands shew a decrease of to.5,099/- due to
certain grants by Government if property formerly under its
control.
■Revenue Miscellaneous shews an increase of j«.4,702 this
account includes,
1. Baladia surtax of on tob.eeo
2. Sale of Divers account books,
3. Passport fees.
■Tiie increase is mainly due to the Passport fees which
have been collected during the past six months only. The
Customs collects the Baladi* Surtax on behalf of the
Municipality of llanamah, but received no payment for this
wOrk.
“Generally, I think the steadiness of the above receipts
shews that the prosperity of the Stnte of Bahrain is main
tained, consequent on a reason., il^ good pearling se. eor. in
1347. The relations between the Customs *nd the mercantile
community are good".
Rente of Government lands. This includes to. 10,000/-
belng royalty paid by the Sastern and General Syndicate,on
their oil concession. The balance consists of rent from the
