Jlotilla the Police took part with the Navy in
3 ceremonial parade and inarch pest in honour of
iis Excellency Shaikh Hamad, afterwards they
entertained 250 sailers at an nreb dinner in the
Port. During his visit the Contender in Chief
permitted the marine band of H.M.5."Hawkins” to
play on the police parade ground an act which
was much appreciated by the police and the local
population who attended in great numbers. A
proposed national anthem for Bahrain, composed
by the bandmaster, was played. Arrangements
are going to be made for the tune to be recorded
on gramophone records in order chat it can be
played by the police band. During the anniver
sary celebrations of Kis Excellency Shaikh Hamad*s
accession the police carried out a ceremonial
parade in front of the palace, ou* unfortunately
it was nor as well done as during the rehearsals
es the noise of the drums and rie singing of the
Arab dancers made it impossible fer the v/ords of
command to be heard. On one of the days of the
anniversary holidays sports were held by the police
consisting of races, tugs of war, jumping etc.,
though most of the men had never seen or taken
part in such an occasion they all displayed the
greatest keenness in contesting the various events
both individually and in sections.
6. Towards the end of the. year the police
have been receiving a course of lathi instruction
from a N.C.O of the Karachi Police, In about
two months four sections will be trained and a
number of N.C.Os. It is not possible to instruct
