In a room to the east of the great central court of the palace at Knossos this spirited
fresco was found. It shows three acrobats, the center one a girl, somersaulting over the
back of a charging bull. Experienced Spanish bullfighters claim that the feat is impos
sible. Certainly the legends of the Minotaur (the Bull of Minos) suggest that the sport
may have been engaged in from religious motives.
