١ December 1961 the excavations of the tcnple at Barbar (١954-1961) came to a٨ end. At
١e conclusion of the excavations it presented an impressive sight, with quantities of masonry
om all the constructional phases exposed at many different levels at the same time. In this
Dndition, however, the structure was extremcly vulnerable to rapid detcrioration and

lapse. The site was therefore covered in January 1962, mainly in order to preserve it for‫ﺩ‬
Iture scientific investigations.
