Bahrain Historical and Archaeological Society established
in 1953.
Its main functions are arranging lectures, workshops, site
visits and publications in the field of local and regional his-
tory. Its aims are to encourage the public awareness of the
importance of the archaeology and history of Kingdom of
Bahrain and its link with other contemporary civilisations.
This is achieved through a lecture program which starts in
October and ends in April the following year. Also we are
publishing a bi-annual referred Dilmun magazine which
contains articles from archaeologists, historian and spe-
cialists in history to reach interested people through our
site and electronic historical library which are available for
our members and interested readers and researchers at
large.
Membership is accepted from citizens, residents and over-
seas corresponding members as well as a list of eminent
persons nominated as honorary members.
His Majesty King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa is our Patron
and a Board of Management is elected every two years by
a General Meeting.
