               NOTES AND COMMUNICATIONS

UNPUBLISHED WAJlHID AND BUYID COINS FROM ‘UMAN IN
                    THE AMERICAN NUMISMATIC SOCIETY

                             by MICHAEL L. BATES

The American Numismatic Society possesses three coins of the
Wajlhids, an obscure family which ruled ‘Uman from about 317 to
about 354 H. (ca. 929-65 A.D.). All are as yet unpublished. Since
coins of this dynasty are quite rare, the publication of these coins
seems worthwhile, even though it must be admitted that they add
little to our knowledge of the dynasty.1
