THE PAKISTAN ADMINISTRATION
                                                                                     J
When the Dominion of Pakistan was established in August 1947 the
Kuwait Post Office remained in the control of the Karachi Circle but
under Pakistani, instead of Indian administration. Kuwait continued to
use overprinted Indian stamps; and there is no record of Pakistan (Nasik
overprints on India) having been used there.
                                                                                     !
The only real effect of the change was that Mr. Raja Mohd. Khan,
who had come to Kuwait in 1946 as a Tclcgraphist/Clerk, took over the
duties of Sub Postmaster from his Indian colleague Mr. Vasudev.
Although this change took place soon after August 14th, the official
date of Pakistani assumption of responsibility for the Kuwait Post
                 Office was November 10th, 1947.

                                              incorrect dates (1339 and 1920).

In each of the years 1947, 1948 and 1949 the State Secretariat
produced labels, having the appearance of postage stamps but without
any denomination, in celebration of the anniversary of the accession of
the then Ruler, Shaikh Ahmad al Jabir (1921-1950). The design was
the same each year, except for differing dates - both Gregorian and
Hijra — at the foot; but, in fact, only the 1948 issue (bluish-violet)
shows the correct accession date (1340 Hijra; 1921 Gregorian). The
1947 (reddish-violet) and 1949 (emerald) issues both give the date
incorrectly as 1339 Hijra; 1920 Gregorian. The labels were supplied
                 to the Post Office to be affixed to incoming and outgoing letters;
although in no way postage stamps, they may sometimes be found with
                 postal cancellations.
