This Combination cover, bearing the necessary Registration Fee
and marked with blue cross, was inadvertently posted as an ordinary
letter in Abu Dhabi. The Registration label and the green ‘Posted out
of Course’ handstamp were applied in London.
The ‘Value Only’ stamps were withdrawn from sale the same
day but they remained valid for use so long as Abu Dhabi and Das
Island continued to be British Postal Agencies; and combination
covers are known well into 1965 from both offices. Indeed,
Rs2 and Rs5 are known used by themselves both from Abu Dhabi
and from Das Island as late as July 1966, some time after they had
finally become obsolete in all the other Agencies.
