P. 38

This provisional was on sale for only nine clays until the
Nasik overprints were available. The unsold stock of hand-stamped
overprints was then withdrawn and destroyed, although the issue
remained valid for use in Muscat until March 31st, 1948. They are
exceedingly rare and less than six covers, with values up to 2 annas,
arc known to have survived, the cancellations being either Type 14A
         or 15.
Although a large variety of PAKISTAN hand-stamped over
prints was made on the stamps of India in various centres in
Pakistan, this particular hand-stamp was peculiar to Muscat and
not only the first of these hand-stamps to appear, but was also the
only one “Used Abroad”. It provides, perhaps, an appropriate
close to the 84-year history of the India and Pakistan Agencies.
