MOUNT—BOTTOM POSITION: ELBOW
ESCAPE (SHRIMPING) Groundfighting
An alternative to the buck-and-roll technique is the elbow escape. This technique
is a bit more dangerous than the buck and roll because your hands are occupied
for a longer period of time and are therefore not able to protect your face.
However, against bigger or more experienced attackers, the elbow escape is
more effective than the buck and roll.
STARTING POSITION: On the ground, with an attacker straddling you.
1. Wedge your left elbow between the ground and the attacker’s right knee to
create space. Turn onto your left hip.
